The greatest truth ever spoken for the good of mankind is what the Bible calls “the gospel of the grace of God.”
Keeping Grace in the Gospel returns readers to that truth by directing them back to the unadorned Gospel revealed in Scripture. In a world crowded with religious noise, this book calls Christians to guard the simplicity of salvation found in the Person and work of Christ alone.
Using Scripture, Dr. Shepler exposes how additions to grace, such as works, rituals, moral effort, or religious performance, turn the Good News into a counterfeit message with no power to save. Salvation rests entirely on the finished and substitutionary work of Jesus Christ: His death for our sins, His burial and His triumphant resurrection. Nothing can be added, and nothing must be earned.
Throughout this book, readers are shown how to discern false gospels by being firmly rooted in the true Gospel. Keeping Grace in the Gospel urges Christians to proclaim the Gospel of the grace of God plainly and rest fully in the sufficiency of Christ’s finished work.
Chapter subjects include "What Is the Gospel?", "Grace Is Not Works, and Works are Not Grace," "Religion vs. Biblical Christianity," "The Absolute Freeness of Eternal Salvation," "Saving Faith," "Faith Without Works: Understanding James 2," "What About Repentance?," "Lordship Salvation: A Modern-Day Gospel Perversion," and more.

About the Author: Dr. Chris Shepler is pastor emeritus of Victory Bible Baptist Church in Irmo, South Carolina. Upon founding the church in 1979, he led it to become a strong soul-winning and Bible-centered ministry. After serving as its pastor for thirty-eight years, he transitioned to an itinerate ministry in 2017.
This ministry has included serving as an interim pastor, teaching at Bill Rice Bible College, preaching at various independent Baptist churches, and most importantly, traveling to various churches across the nation to hold For the Faith Bible conferences. In addition, he has now authored two books, both published by the Sword of the Lord Publications: Forewarned and Forearmed: Preparing for Battle Against the Errors of Calvinism and Keeping Grace in the Gospel: Bringing Clarity to the Greatest Story Ever Told.
Due to his extensive ministry experience, both with young people and adults, Dr. Shepler is burdened to address a great variety of biblical issues as he preaches.
